Toltec Dreaming

The Toltec Teachings – An Introduction by Dr Alan Taylor

Dr Alan Taylor joins us at The Academy of Dreams to present a series of workshops called “The Toltec Teachings – An Introduction”.  Alan’s interpretation of the Teachings stems from the books written by Théun Mares.

Toltec means man or woman of knowledge. The Toltec Teachings are an extensive and evolving body of practical knowledge, which offer us an approach to life that is empowering and can lead to freedom.

About Dr Alan Taylor

Alan  holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics, has authored 56 mainstream scientific articles and directed personal development workshops for Ph.D. students over a number of years. Alan has been practising the Art of Dreaming as part of the Warrior’s Path within the Toltec tradition for ten years and has a good understanding of both the first and second attention. He is a Man of Action and a dreamer by predilection.

Here Alan talks about his perspective and the journey of life.

All of life is a journey; a learning journey. It is a symptom of our modern times that our eyes are ever fixated on the destination whilst the wonders pass us by. Forever asking; “are we there yet?” , wherever ‘there’ might actually be.

What about the eternal now?

The Warrior’s Path, inherent in the Toltec Teachings, is a journey of lifetimes. If it is your fate to come across this path, you will. How far along this path you travel is already in a sense pre-determined and, by you.  If it is your fate to become a warrior in this lifetime, then in likelihood you will, in time, have the personal power to call forth an interaction with a nagal.

My purpose in delivering these courses is to act as a stepping stone; a pebble in the river of life, so that you might move forward. I am offering a taste  of a way of living that differs from the mundane, leaving it up to you to begin to discern whether this might be for you; ” A Path with Heart.”

There is no sat. nav.  as one moves from the sad land of   “if only”  towards the far away and rosy tinted land of  “what if” . There are no guarantees in life. There is only now and the time around now.

The present is called the present because it is just tha; a gift.

Let us try then, you and I. Let us see where this might go.

I cannot teach you these teachings.  I can verbalise them.  I can even lead you towards them. I can’t live them for you. For it is in the living of the teachings that change occurs. In a very real sense, each person approaching them is self taught. One claims one’s own power or knowledge; that is the way.

In this series of workshops, “The Toltec Teachings – An Introduction”, I begin to look at how one might try to apply the teachings in the context of day to day life, right here and now. In time, the trying becomes the living and the pace of learning accelerates.

I do not claim that I am expert. I am not a nagal or Nagual, nor have I a certificate proving that I am qualified to teach these teachings.

My purpose is clear; it is to introduce these teachings and after that, it is up to you where you might go with it.

I found them of use; I hope you do too.

My approach to this is from my own interpretation of the Toltec Teachings and stems from the excellent series of texts on this subject written by Théun Mares.
